Delegation from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Visits the Hong Kong Observatory

On 19 May 2025, a delegation from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), led by Mr. Deng Xiaohong, Director of COMAC Flight Test, visited the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO). The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities in the field of aviation meteorological technology and to foster scientific research partnerships.Dr. Chan Pak-wai, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, personally received the delegation. During the visit, HKO colleagues engaged in in-depth discussions with the delegation on a wide-range of topics, including meteorological forecasting technologies, airborne detection systems, monitoring and forecasting of icing and strong winds, and cutting-edge applications of numerical weather prediction and machine learning in meteorology. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for deepening their partnership to advance technological innovation.
