The Observatory signed the co-operation plan with the Shanghai Meteorological Service

On 17 April 2025, Dr. CHAN Pak-wai, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) and Mr. Feng Lei, Director-General of the Shanghai Meteorological Service (SMS), signed an updated Cooperation Plan on Meteorology and Technology in Shanghai, China.

A long-term and steady co-operation mechanism between the Hong Kong Observatory and the Shanghai Meteorological Service was set up under the framework of the "Arrangement in Long-term Co-operation in Meteorological Science and Technology" between China Meteorological Administration and the Hong Kong Observatory. Enhanced areas of exchange and cooperation include multi-hazard early warning, short-term weather forecasting and nowcasting, aviation meteorology, disaster prevention and mitigation, etc. to promote the development of modern meteorological services and operations in mega city.
