Fly-past over Victoria Harbour – Weather

31 March 2025

To fly or not to fly?  This is a question that pilots must carefully consider every day.  But what if it is a low-flying demonstration over the Victoria Harbour?  With orchestrated coordination and preparation, a large commercial aircraft took to the skies over the Victoria Harbour on the afternoon of 30 March 2025.  This once-familiar yet awe-inspiring scene not only struck a chord with everyone, but also filled with encouragement and excitement.

In this special flight mission, the Hong Kong Observatory played an indispensable role.  Days in advance, we provided dedicated weather support, including cloud distribution, visibility and wind forecasts to assist relevant parties in selecting the most suitable date for the event and carrying out thorough flight preparations.  On the day of the mission, the Observatory provided real-time weather updates during the joint briefing, ensuring the smooth execution of the entire event.

Looking ahead, the Observatory remains committed to providing professional meteorological support across various altitudes and domains for all sectors.
