“Science in the Public Service” 15th Anniversary TV Documentary

This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the “Science in the Public Service” (SIPS) Campaign. Fifteen government departments (Architectural Services Department, Buildings Department, Civil Aviation Department, Civil Engineering Development Department, Drainage Services Department, Electrical & Mechanical Services Department, Environmental Protection Department, Fire Services Department, Highways Department, Hong Kong Observatory, Innovation and Technology Commission, Lands Department, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Transport Department, and Water Supplies Department) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) jointly produced a SIPS TV documentary, with staff from respective departments introducing how the application of latest technology and research outcome has enhanced work efficiency and service quality.Dr Cheng Cho Ming, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, and Mr Li Pak Chuen, Patrick, Director of Broadcasting, joined with fourteen heads or representatives of the government departments to officiate at the kick-off ceremony of the SIPS TV documentary on 22 December 2021. The documentary will be broadcasted on both RTHK TV 31 and RTHK website on three consecutive Sundays at 6 pm starting from 26 December 2021.
Under the coordination of the Hong Kong Observatory, SIPS is a joint campaign by a number of government bureaux and departments as well as collaborating organisations to showcase the application of science and technology to serve the public through public education activities.
