The Observatory continues winning the recognition as “Manpower Developer”

1 April 2020

The Hong Kong Observatory has long attached great importance to staff training and development. This year, we successfully passed the assessment* of the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) again, and was recognised as a Manpower Developer (MD) for the fifth consecutive year. This demonstrated the achievements and dedication of the Observatory to the promotion of learning culture, resources planning, nurturing and development of talent, and performance management. The Observatory will continue to actively recruit and nurture talent in face of the current and future challenges to fulfil the spirit of "Innovate with Science, Serve with Heart” and provide people-oriented quality services to the public.

*The MD Award Scheme was launched by the ERB in 2009 to recognise organisations which have demonstrated outstanding achievements in manpower training and development. Through reviewing and evaluating the overall planning and implementation of manpower training and development, organisations that demonstrate outstanding achievements will be acknowledged as MDs within a two-year validity period. Assessment has to be conducted every two years for renewal.
