Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A trough of low pressure brought thundery showers to the coastal areas of Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was cloudy with showers and a few squally thunderstorms yesterday. Showers were heavy at times. More than 20 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over widespread areas, and rainfall even exceeded 70 millimetres over Sai Kung, Kowloon and the western part of Hong Kong Island. The trough of low pressure will continue to bring thundery showers to the coast of Guangdong today. With the gradual weakening of the trough of low pressure and the establishment of anticyclone aloft over the northern part of the South China Sea, the weather will become fine and hot over the south China coastal areas during the weekend.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Thursday, 21 Aug 2014)

Mainly cloudy with showers. A few squally thunderstorms at first. Showers will ease off later. Temperatures will range between 24 and 29 degrees. Moderate southerly winds, occasionally fresh offshore.

Outlook : Becoming fine and hot gradually in the following few days.
