  • A New Episode of "Cool Met Stuff"

  • Friday, 2nd November 2018

The Hong Kong Observatory and the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau jointly established an automatic weather station at Huangmaozhou, located about 50 km south of Hong Kong, more than 30 years ago. The meteorological data collected greatly improve the capability in monitoring inclement weather in the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. The station played an important role in evaluating wind speeds and analysing the structures of Tropical Cyclone Hato last year and Tropical Cyclone Mangkhut this year. These will be introduced in the latest episode of "Cool Met Stuff".

The video is now available on the "MyObservatory" mobile application and the Observatory's website for your viewing (programme is broadcasted in Cantonese).
