Compliment on accurately forecasting the track of Typhoon Chanchu

(Email from the public received on 17 May 2006)

Dear Director of HKO,

I am just wondering how can you predict the track of the Typhoon so accurate? It's amazing!

I have clicked on the HKO website in recent days and knew that the Observatory had predicted the track of the typhoon Chanchu would had a 90 degree turn on the South China Sea and would turn mild east before reaching HK and Chanchu really did. That experience impressed me so much!

Thanks for the reply if you have time
