A visit to the Hong Kong Productivity Council on 25 June 2008

Information security has become more and more important in this digital era.  A group of 17 staff of the Observatory visited the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) during the stormy afternoon of 25 June 2008. Experts from the HKPC's Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT) briefed us on the latest development in computer and internet security, enhancing further our understanding on the subject.

Apart from HKCERT, we also learned more about open source software and related development platforms in the Hong Kong Open Source Software Centre (HKOSSC).  The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Advanced Electronics Processing Technology Centre and the Innovation Gallery.  Through the visit, colleagues acquired a better understanding of the diverse range of services provided by the HKPC.

Mr Roy Ko, centre manager of the HKCERT, explained the latest development in computer and information security.
