  • The Observatory’s tenth Public Course on Weather Observation satisfactorily completed

  • Wednesday, 11th April 2018

The Hong Kong Observatory always strives to promote meteorological knowledge to the public. It has already been the tenth time since 2004 for the Observatory to organize a popular course on weather observation in February and March this year.

Around 130 participants learnt about basic weather observation techniques and methods, various weather phenomena and hazards including tropical cyclone and related weather conditions, as well as the interpretation of weather charts, radar and satellite pictures. Tutors also introduced the application of weather information on the “MyObservatory” mobile app and the Observatory website, and how to make use of the platforms on the Community Weather Observing Scheme (co-win.org/index.php/en or www.facebook.com/icwos) to share weather information.

The Course on Weather Observation aims at enhancing public understanding on weather, facilitating them to take appropriate actions in response to changes in weather.
