This year, the Observatory participated in the “Life Buddies” Mentoring Scheme organized by the Commission on Poverty. Seven Secondary 5 students from Buddhist Sum Heung Lam Memorial College and Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui College underwent job tasting at the Observatory at end August 2016. Under the guidance of the Observatory’s mentors, they experienced the work of different posts of the Observatory. All students highly valued this opportunity, and were greatly impressed by various advanced meteorological instruments and facilities. They also admired the scientific professionalism and conscientious attitude of the Observatory’s staff, and firmly believed that enthusiasm, innovation and keeping up with the times should be the values to be upheld when they pursue their career in the society in the future.
