To achieve a better balance besides work, proper recreational, cultural and sports activities are immeasurable to the quality of life. The Staff Association of the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) regularly arranges activities for staff because of this. These activities include cake baking, red wine tasting, Tai Chi class, hiking and various competitive sports such as basketball, football, table tennis and badminton.
According to staff opinion surveys, badminton is one of the most welcomed activities. The Staff Association books badminton courts every month for our members. Recently, we organized the Director Cup Badminton Tournament cum Family Fun Day. With the generous sponsorship of our Director, Dr. B.Y. Lee, prizes and so on were of course abundant. Colleagues and their family members responded warmly and we all enjoyed a pleasurable morning.
By the way, HKO actively supports staff to participate in extra-official sports. Examples were the table tennis and badminton competitions organized by the Credit Union League of Hong Kong (CULHK). Our colleague P.W. Ng won two champions in the badminton games last year. Congratulations to him!
