The 15th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Operational Cooperation Meeting was held in Shenzhen on 20 January. Dr B Y Lee, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory led an 8-people delegation to the meeting. Guangdong was represented by the Director of Guangdong Meteorological Bureau, Mr Yu Yong, while Macao was represented by the Director of Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, Dr S K Fong. The Deputy Director of China Meteorological Administration, Mr Shen Xiaonong was also present at the meeting. The meeting reviewed the work of the three parties in the past year, and confirmed the items of cooperation in the coming year. It provided a framework and direction for further collaboration for the purpose of enhancing weather services in the Greater Pearl River Delta area.
The Cooperation Meeting was followed by the 24th Meteorological Technical Seminar. A total of 14 scientific/technical papers were presented by various staff of the Observatory. There were active discussion and free flow of ideas between the participants on topics of common interest.
