Guangdong Nuclear Power Station (GNPS)

  The GNPS is located at Da Keng, Daya Bay, about 45 km from the city centre of Shenzhen, and about 50 km from Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.
  It is owned by the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. (GNPJVC) which is formed by Guangdong Nuclear Investment Co., Ltd. (75% shares) and Hong Kong Nuclear Investment Co. Ltd. (25% shares).
  The power station consists of two reactor units of French design Framatome 900 MW class Pressurised Water Reactors.
  Unit 1 and Unit 2 began commercial operation in February and May 1994 respectively.
  The gross power output of each unit is 984 MW.
  70% of electricity generated is delivered to CLP Power Hong Kong Limited of Hong Kong and the remaining to Guangdong.
  The power is delivered to CLP Power's electricity network through the 400 kV overhead lines connecting HKSAR and Shenzhen.
