The GNPS is located
at Da Keng, Daya Bay, about 45 km from the city centre of
Shenzhen, and about 50 km from Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. |

It is owned by the
Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. (GNPJVC) which
is formed by Guangdong Nuclear Investment Co., Ltd. (75% shares)
and Hong Kong Nuclear Investment Co. Ltd. (25% shares). |

The power station
consists of two reactor units of French design Framatome
900 MW class
Pressurised Water Reactors. |

Unit 1 and Unit 2 began
commercial operation in February and May 1994 respectively. |

The gross power output
of each unit is 984 MW. |

70% of electricity
generated is delivered to CLP
Power Hong Kong Limited of Hong Kong and the remaining
to Guangdong. |

The power is delivered to CLP
Power's electricity network through the 400 kV overhead lines
connecting HKSAR and Shenzhen. |
