Polar temperature charts on AMIDS

Very low temperature in the upper-air could be hazardous to flights as aircraft fuel could solidify under such conditions, especially for polar routes in winter. In response to airline's request, polar temperature charts have been made available on AMIDS for attention of aircrew and flight planners. The charts provide the temperature pattern in different colours around the North Pole and direct read-outs of the temperatures. The information is derived from the digitally-coded 24-hour forecast data received from the World Area Forecast Centre at London and are updated at 6-hourly intervals.
